A thread lift uses dissolvable PDO (polydioxanone) or COG (barbed) sutures, inserted through tiny entry points, to physically lift and reposition the soft tissue of the face and neck. The threads anchor against the skin's deeper layers, providing an immediate mechanical lift.
Beyond the initial lift, the threads trigger a prolonged collagen response, the body builds new collagen around each thread, which means the result continues improving for 8 to 12 weeks and persists for 12 to 18 months, long after the threads themselves have dissolved.
PDO smooth threads work best for skin quality and texture. COG threads, which have small barbs to grip tissue, provide a more dramatic structural lift for sagging jowls, brows and midface. Most treatment plans use a combination of both.
